Student Council elections at leading Indonesian school
Not only students voted but also the entire school staff, including security guards and cleaners.
Al-Hikmah Islamic Boarding School is one of the best secondary schools in Indonesia.
PROBLEM
Lack of student council at school
The Student Council is a self-government body, the main purpose of which is to form an active civic position among students, develop their independence and the ability to organize themselves. The staff of the Al-Hikma school realized the need to create a student council for the comprehensive development of students.
SOLUTION
Online Election of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman to
the Student Council
These were the first school-wide elections in which not only students voted but also the entire school staff, including security guards and cleaners. Voters voted via the Polys system on school computers. To access the election, students had to enter an eight-digit code, after which they could cast their votes.
RESULT
Overall turnout 88%
More than 50 people took part in the voting. Overall online turnout was 88%.

The school staff and students rated the three main benefits of the Polys system: a reduction in paper usage, quick casting of votes, and the ability to vote from anywhere with internet access at any time.
